埃及的旅游業(yè)正經(jīng)歷一場變革性的自由化改革，逐步放寬管制，吸引新投資者，并重新定義了政府與私營部門之間的關(guān)系。隨著改革的推進(jìn)，埃及在過去七年中，將國內(nèi)生產(chǎn)總值的22%投入到基礎(chǔ)設(shè)施建設(shè)中，這一戰(zhàn)略性的放松管制和資金分配正逐步顯現(xiàn)出成果，彰顯了埃及對提升國際旅游聲譽(yù)的堅(jiān)定承諾。

On May 27, 2024, at the 2024 ITB Shanghai International Tourism Fair, Mr. Amr El Kady, Director of the Egyptian Tourism Bureau, personally attended the event and conveyed Egypt's warm welcome and earnest expectations for Chinese tourists to us and the attendees. Director Erkadi stated that tourism exchanges between Egypt and China are becoming increasingly close, and Chinese tourists are enthusiastic about this ancient and mysterious country of Egypt. In 2023, Egypt received a total of 230000 Chinese tourists, a year-on-year increase of up to 250%. In the first quarter of 2024 alone, Egypt received 90000 Chinese tourists, a year-on-year increase of 178%. During the May Day Golden Week, Egypt welcomed a large number of Chinese tourists, which greatly inspired the Egyptian Tourism Bureau.

During the trade fair, I met with Amr Elkadi on behalf of the World Hotel Federation and the magazine "Culture and Tourism" to discuss and exchange information on culture and tourism. I also conducted interviews with the relevant officials of the Egyptian National Tourism Administration in China. To enhance the travel experience for Chinese visitors, the Egyptian Tourism Authority has not only facilitated convenient visa-on-arrival services but also devised a series of innovative measures. There have been significant improvements in flight services as well. Nowadays, multiple airlines operate several direct flights weekly from major Chinese cities to Egypt, offering more convenient travel options for Chinese tourists. Additionally, Egypt continues to invest in its tourism sector, enhancing infrastructure to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable journey for every Chinese visitor, from transportation networks and accommodation facilities to tourist attractions and diverse entertainment activities.

Tourism Liberalization and Infrastructure Development Leading a New Wave

Egypt's tourism industry is undergoing a transformative liberalization, gradually easing regulations to attract new investors and redefine the relationship between the government and the private sector. Over the past seven years, Egypt has invested 22% of its GDP into infrastructure development. This strategic deregulation and financial allocation are starting to yield results, showcasing Egypt's firm commitment to enhancing its international tourism reputation.In terms of infrastructure, Egypt is heavily investing in improving its transportation network, upgrading airport facilities, and expanding the railway system. These major investments aim to enhance accessibility and connectivity nationwide, providing tourists with a more convenient and comfortable travel experience.Simultaneously, Egypt's hotel industry is rapidly expanding. Within the next five years, the number of hotel rooms is set to double to 400,000 to meet the growing demand from tourists. This move will significantly boost Egypt's capacity to accommodate visitors, offering a wider range of accommodation options.Egypt's Tourism Development: A Model for ChinaEgypt's tourism development is noteworthy for China, especially in cultural and historical tourism and the hotel industry. We hope more tourists will discover and fall in love with Egypt.

Egyptian Tourism Authority's Key Recommendations—Cairo City Break Plan and the New Era of Luxury TravelThe Egyptian Tourism

Authority recently announced a new strategic tourism project, the "Cairo City Break Plan," aiming to make the millennia-old cultural city a vibrant tourist destination. This plan includes in-depth tours of historical sites, rich cultural experiences, and explorations of modern urban leisure, offering visitors a unique Cairo journey.A highlight of the "Cairo City Break Plan" is the new visitor center at the Giza Pyramids.
